Hey there! Thanks for visiting Coffee Top Calligraphy! I am so excited you’re here. Let me tell you more about my myself and my company!
I am a Michigander currently living and working in downtown Minneapolis. I grew up in a super artistic family - my mom is a designer, my dad is an engineer, and my sister is an artist/art teacher. So naturally I got the design itch too. The difference is that I have the itch to MAKE things - from packaging, to random desserts I find on Pinterest, or greeting cards. Nothing gives me a better feeling than completing a project and having a physical product in my hands at the end of it. I love the rush of giving someone something I’ve created and then get the recurring response of “you MADE this?!”. When I’m not creating things, you can find me weightlifting, exploring Northeast Minneapolis, or reading a book in a tub full of bath bombs with my essential oils diffuser filling the room with lavender.
ABOUT COFFEE TOP CALLIGRAPHY
Q & A
HOW DID COFFEE TOP CALLIGRAPHY GET STARTED?
I’ve always known that having a creative outlet brings me happiness in life. But, I can only make so many things for myself before my small condo gets overtaken by artwork (I can’t handle clutter!). So I knew I needed a way to create, but then get it into someone else’s hands! For a while, I just would make things for friends and family whenever a gifting moment occurred. After receiving a overwhelming amount of “you should start a business!” responses, I finally decided to take the plunge!
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR NAME? IS "COFFEE TOP" EVEN A REAL WORD?
It’s sort of a made up word, right? Like, I guess “coffee” and “top” are both words… so I guess “Coffee Top” is too? When I was noodling on names, I tried to pull out themes about my work because I wanted a name with some meaning behind it. I noticed a theme that was true to everything I make — I do all of my work sitting on the floor, working on my coffee table. Anyone else do this? Just me? As I’ve been doing more and more work, I’m starting to realize another theme - I really need to invest in some floor pillows!
WHAT ARE YOUR DESIGN QUALIFICATIONS?
After taking just about every art class my high school offered, I surprisingly turned down an art school scholarship to go to Michigan State University to get my degree in Packaging, with a specialization in design. After graduating in 2013, I moved to Minneapolis to start my career as a Packaging Engineer for a major US retailer, where I currently work full time. My job requires me to come up with creative packaging solutions to sell products in a retail landscape. On top of that, I have taken calligraphy classes and watercolor classes, and practice the skills specifically needed for Coffee Top Calligraphy daily.
I LIKE YOUR STYLE... I HAVE AN IDEA FOR A PROJECT... NOW WHAT?
LET’S CHAT! Calligraphy and watercolor can be applied to a wide range of products! Let me help you bring your ideas to life! The sky is the limit! Need wedding paper? Wall Decor? Business cards? Greeting cards? A gift for a wedding, birthday, bachelorette party or baby shower? Get creative (or let me do the creativity for you!)
WHAT ARE YOUR TIMELINES LIKE?
All timelines vary by project. Custom projects have the longest timelines, as this requires me to complete the entire process of ideation, creation, finishing touches, production, and shipping. Semi-custom projects have shorter lead times, as the “template” or design elements already created, they just need to be adjusted. Standard products have the shortest timeline, because the product is already designed and ready to be printed/produced/shipped!
Keep in mind, too, that this business is something I do on the side of my full time job, so I unfortunately don’t have the capacity to take on every project that comes my way.

I LIKE YOUR WORK, BUT I'M ON A BUDGET
I am happy to work within whatever budget works for you. All projects and designs can be adjusted to fit within a price range. For example, amount of calligraphed words, amount of watercolor, complexity of design, tools used, mediums used and more can be adjusted so that you can get what you want, but at a price you can afford!
